The New Jersey room houses the library’s collection of materials for historical and genealogical research. This collection is available for use in the library only, as many of these materials are rare and in fragile condition.

The library’s local history collection contains books, magazines, and pamphlets related to the history and development of Moorestown and Burlington County and books of New Jersey interest. Most of the materials are cited in the Library catalog.

Historic Photograph Collections
William H. Roberts Collection: These images of Moorestown were taken from glass plate negatives housed at the library since the 1970’s. The majority of the pictures were taken by Moorestown photographer William H. Roberts between 1880-1912 and show Moorestown as it was in the late 1800’s and early 1900’s. View the collection.

Genealogy
The genealogy collection includes published family histories and journals of Moorestown families, Moorestown High School year books, city directories, collective biographies of New Jersey persons, biographical indexes, DAR patriot indexes, and more.

Moorestown has a strong Quaker heritage, and the Library’s Quaker collection includes history of the Quaker movement, biographies and journals, and Quaker genealogies.
