Teen Volunteer Opportunities

Summer Volunteer (Summer Only) – The library needs volunteers to help run our Summer Reading program. Volunteers listen to children report books, hand out prizes, and help with special projects such as programs or craft prep. Once your application has been accepted, you can sign up for available hours on the  Summer Reading Listeners Signup Genius.

Library Volunteer (All Year) – Throughout the year, the library needs volunteers to help with special projects such as book sales or children’s programs. We send email notifications to all registered volunteers inviting you to sign up for these opportunities on the Teen Library Volunteer Signup Genius. You may select a limited number of volunteer slots for the year, based on demand.

Program Presenter (All Year) – If you would like to volunteer to present a program at the library, please complete the Teen Volunteer Program Proposal (located at the bottom of this page). The Teen Advisory Board (TAB) will discuss your idea at their next monthly meeting.

NOTE:  The teen library volunteer program uses Signup Genius.  The email you provide in your volunteer application is where all notifications will be sent. This is the only email that will be accepted when you sign up for volunteer opportunities. We strongly suggest providing your own email address (not your parent’s) and advise against using a school email account.

Teen Advisory Board (TAB)

>>> TAB is now full for the 2025-2026 school year <<<

TAB is a volunteer and advisory group for students in grades 9-12 where members work with librarians to make recommendations and help develop and present new programs together. Bring your creativity, have your voice heard, make new friends and grow your leadership skills while earning community service hours.

If you are a member of TAB, use the TAB button to volunteer for upcoming TAB programs and sign up for monthly meetings.

Cancellations

Volunteers are expected to show up for all the time slots they sign up for.  If you cannot make your scheduled time slot, please cancel it in Signup Genius if you are able else email the Youth Services Librarians at youth@moorestownlibrary.org as soon as possible.  Please do not email individual staff members to cancel shifts. Volunteers are not permitted to swap time slots. Students who miss 2 volunteer time slots without any notification to the library and those with multiple same-day cancellations will be taken off the volunteer list and removed from TAB (if a member) until they speak with the Head of Youth Services, Jen Dunne, to get reinstated.

Getting Credit for Your Volunteer Work

You will need to fill out your school’s community service hours form and present it in person at the library or email it to youth@moorestownlibrary.org. We will check your hours and email you back a signed copy.
